There is no shortage of Kennebunkport restaurants to enjoy when you stay nearby at our Wells vacation rental. There are so many great options that it’s often difficult to choose.  Here are just a handful of our favorites.

Best drinks ON the water – The Spirit Restaurant – 4 Western Ave. Kennebunk Maine, 04043 – Enjoy a cocktails on a 125 foot Schooner docked on the river in the port.  It’s our favorite location for a pre-dinner cocktail or Sunday funday.

Best Italian – Via Sophia by the Sea – 27 Western Ave, Kennebunk, ME – Is it pricey? Yes, but no more expensive than other upscale options in town. Is it worth it? I definitely think so. The baked burrata, squash blossoms, lobster agnolotti, and pink houses cocktail were delicious IMO. The service was wonderful too. When you combine that with a posh interior, you’ve got a great option for a special night out.

Best kept secret – Latitudes at Nonantum Resort – 95 Ocean Ave, Kennebunkport, ME – The upper deck at the poolside bar and restaurant, is the perfect location to take in views of the Kennebunk River while having a drink and bite to eat.

Best overall – Village Tavern – 110 Alfred Rd, Kennebunk, ME 04043 – Located West of I-95, the Village Tavern checks all the boxes for us:

  • A well-rounded menu with seafood, beef, lamb, and chicken entrées cooked to perfection. The short ribs are a 10 out of 10. Yabba Dabba Doo!
  • 10+ side dish options. The steamed Broccoli with Blue Cheese, Olive Oil, Green Tabasco and Toasted Wheat Germ is my personal favorite.
  • A lovely dining room with tablecloths and the option to dine outside on the screened porch
  • Acoustics’ that allow you to carry a meaningful conversation with your table mates.
  • Warm and efficient service
  • Perfectly sized portions at reasonable prices

Best casual crowd-pleaser – Alisson’s Restaurant – 11 Dock Square, Kennebunkport, ME  04046 – Situated in the heart of town, Alisson’s offers a comfortable atmosphere and broad selection of excellently prepared dishes for both seafood fans and landlubbers.  There’s something for everyone on the menu and we’ve never had a bad meal here.

Best menu – Bandaloop – 1200 Portland Road (Rte 1) Arundel, ME 04046 – We love Bandaloop’s globally influenced menu, which includes several vegetarian and vegan options. The dishes are so flavorful and everything is made in house with high-quality, organic and locally sourced ingredients.  Try the soup even if you’re not a soup kind of person! NOTE: This restaurant is located inland; not in the port.

Best upscale – Earth at Hidden Pond Resort – 354 Goose Rocks Rd, Kennebunkport, ME 04046 – With a stunning dining room that oozes rustic elegance, Earth focuses on “farm to fork” freshness.  Ingredients come from the on-site organic gardens, as well as local dairy farms, cheese makers, foragers, farmers, and Maine fishermen.

Best fine dining with ocean views – Ocean Restaurant at the Cape Arundel Inn – 208 Ocean Ave, Kennebunkport, Maine 04046. The combination of breathtaking ocean views and expertly prepared dishes difficult to top. Ocean Restaurant’s Lobster Thermidor is the best I’ve ever eaten.

Most fancy dining in town – White Barn Inn – 37 Beach Ave, Kennebunk Beach, ME 04043 – Unforgettable AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star fine dining experience.  You’ll need to save your allowance for this one, but it will be worth every delectable bite.

Most relaxing place to have a cocktail and watch boats go by – Stripers Waterside Restaurant – 133 Ocean Ave, Kennebunkport, ME 04046 – Perfectly situated where the Kennebunk River meets the ocean, the lawn at Striper’s is the perfect place to sit in an Adirondack chair and sip a cocktail while watching boats come and go.
